Europe by Designers was a multi-disciplinary project launched in 2008 to collect images of Europe by artists and designers inside and outside the continent. The results of that project are now on view. The site makes some beautiful use of background images plus patterns along with large, crisp panels of beautiful type and of course—beautiful work.
This is another well done example of a webpage that achieves a full screen experience very similar to one people would expect to use Flash—though this uses no flash. The only downside here is the horizontal scrolling may not be easy to use for all people. Perhaps the addition of an always on screen and easy to hit button to force the scroll would be warranted. On the other hand, it is well worth noting that this site even works great on the iphone. Another benefit of avoiding the over-use of flash.
