Typographica. Unchanged since 2002. Now Completely New.
The updated design of Typographica has come along quite nicely, with crisp well chose typography (imagine that), a well chosen grid system, and a general aesthetic that keeps it from the stereotypical image of a blog and more in the realm of a zine or magazine. Not only the design and layout is to thank, but also the great content, and organization of content into well thought out sections that all display differently on the front page, as opposed to a stream of posts from top to bottom. This can make it a little more difficult to see what’s ‘new’ but only time will tell if this is really a problem.
Worth noting the articles are very easy to read with a comfortable type size, images are provided with plenty of breathing room, and the article is granted full use of the page, rather than getting unnecessary side column clutter and the like. Issues with the layout do arise when an article puts text on the right and images on the left, and the text inevitably runs down past the image. Currently this leaves a long narrow column of text awkwardly going down the right with an odd empty space of the left. Hopefully issues such as these will be resolved.
Overall this is a very pleasant blog to look at and read, deserving much praise, and for some great content as well.
